The Friends of Devonport Parkare a voluntary community group which has an elected committee, representative of the area surrounding Devonport Park, who alongside members of other community organisations and the Plymouth City Council (PCC), have worked together to complete the the restoration of Devonport Park (see restoration project). Devonport Park is a beautiful victorian park, in use as such from the mid-1800's. It has seen many changes over the years, both in its general appearance and uses. Over the years, the park has seen a general decline in its maintenance and use and this was the main reason for the creation of the Friends of Devonport Park (FDP) community group in September 2005.
The Bandstand and “Buy A Brick Campaign”!
Thank you to the many people and organisations who have already purchased a “brick” (Victorian paving slab), immortalising their loved one’s or other names, or company details in the upcoming design of the new Devonport Park Bandstand. Despite now having the necessary funds and as a result of it’s popularity, we are still continuing to raise funds towards projects within the park by selling these Victorian bricks. Details on how to purchase a brick are below. The latest batch of pavers have just been laid and we can now take orders for the next set, to be installed around September 2013. The starting price for individuals is £30 per brick (Victorian paver) and if you are interested I would act quickly as they are selling out fast! For more details, contact either Fiona Hunter on 07906687298 or by email on fionafdp@gmail.com or Mike Gallagher at 01752 213308 or by email using mikegallagher@friendsofdevonportpark.co.uk Please remember that we are a completely voluntary group who are entirely dependent upon donations in order to continue our work in our
The picture above shows the original victorian pavers (top) and the design of the etched pavers you can purchase (bottom), the colour of which will be made to match the original pavers.
